How do I obtain free tickets during RAD Summer Staycation?
You must have a valid Allegheny County library card in order to book tickets through RAD Pass, which is run by Carnegie Library of Pittsburgh on a grant from RAD. Please visit radpass.org/faq/ for step-by-step details on reserving a pass.
How do I get a library card?
You can apply online at this link or visit your local library in person with valid ID and proof of current address.
Will I get free admission just by showing my library card?
No. To obtain a free admission, you must reserve your tickets in advance at RADpass.org. You must show a downloaded or printed RAD Pass (along with a valid ID) at your chosen attraction to gain admission.
Is RAD Pass available for me if I live outside Allegheny County?
No. As our RAD entities are funded by an Allegheny County sales tax, the RAD Pass program is for Allegheny County residents and accessed with an Allegheny County library card.
How do I know if my library is an Allegheny County library?
The Allegheny County Library Association includes 46 public libraries with more than 70 locations. You can visit aclalibraries.org to see a full list.
Do I need to get a physical RAD Pass from my library?
No. All RAD Pass reservations must be booked online at RADpass.org. Many Allegheny County libraries also offer Experience Kits that are available for patrons to check out, often including passes to a local museum. We encourage you to ask your local library about Experience Kits for 2025. RAD Pass is a different program that involves online reservations.
How many tickets will I get with a RAD Pass?
RAD Summer Staycation offers will differ based on the attraction -- please read each offer carefully when booking. The RAD Pass holder must be in the party for admission.
If a RAD Pass offer says "Age Restriction: 18 or older" can I still bring someone under 18?
Yes! The age restriction is only for the person reserving the RAD Pass. Your guest(s) may be of any age to enter.
What if I want to bring a larger group?
Another member of your party will have to obtain a RAD Pass for the same location and date. If another RAD Pass is unavailable, you can purchase additional tickets from the attraction you are visiting. If you are seeking tickets for a group of 10 or more (including field trips), please contact the attraction directly to ask about Group Tickets or Educational Visits.
Can I give my RAD Pass reservation to someone else?
No. The reservation is for use only by the person named and only on the date specified. Unauthorized duplication or transfer of the reservation may prevent your admittance to the attraction.
Are there limits on booking RAD Pass reservations?
Yes. You may only book each attraction once with RAD Pass during the RAD Summer Staycation. Your account is also limited to three (3) active reservations at any given time.
The attraction I want to visit is fully booked. Did I lose my chance?
RAD-funded attractions will be replenishing ticket offers throughout the summer, eventually offering tens of thousands of tickets through the program. We encourage you to check back regularly as more dates will become available through August 31.
What if I’m not able to visit the attraction on the reserved date?
RAD Summer Staycation offers are limited. Please be courteous to other RAD Pass users: only book a reservation that you plan to use on the selected date. If you find you are unable to attend, please cancel your reservation to open up spots for others.
I’m on food assistance. Is there another discount for me?
Yes. RAD Summer Staycation attractions (with the exception of the National Aviary and Heinz History Center) are also participants in Museums For All, a nationwide program providing reduced-cost admission to individuals who show their EBT card with valid ID. You can visit museums4all.org to learn more.
Will there be other free opportunities this summer beyond the ticketed attractions?
Yes. We invite you to visit radworkshere.org/events to see a calendar of free events that are open to all. RAD will be adding more free experiences to the calendar as the summer goes on.
I have a RAD Pass question that wasn’t answered here. Where do I go?
Please visit radpass.org/faq/ for a step-by-step guide, contact your local library or fill out the Contact Form at radpass.org/contact-us/ for answers from the Carnegie Library of Pittsburgh.
RAD thanks Lamar Advertising for its in-kind donation of ad space at several locations near public libraries.
